In the heart of every man, woman and child is the expectation of a perfect world—of perfect parents, perfect friends and even perfect strangers. This expectation of a good and fair world is instinct. This expectation is a reflection of who we are deep inside, of what the Creation really could and should be. What we all find is something different.
At a young age, as we begin to experience difficult events; we sense something is not quite right with the world or ourselves. But we try to put that thought in the back of our heads… deciding that the world and ourselves my work the way we want, if we do certain things right.
We do our best to seek something better than what we have, because what we have is not so great: Calamity, hunger, pain, and death—who would or should want that? Who would think that is the way things are supposed to be? Few.
The demands of Creation, as we have created it, are not so wonderful. But these harsh demands are the consequences of misusing our abilities and resources over time.
Pain and disaster are the Creation’s efforts to right itself. When we near a flame, our body tells us, through pain, that we are too close. Flame may be good for cooking, but it’s not for cooking ourselves. Fairly simple
But Creation itself responds over time to what we do, Creation responds by giving back to us what we have done, doing this slowly over time.
There are moments, periods and even lifetimes of pleasure and bliss. But no matter how well our lives go, we are all inexorably moving toward the debilitating effects of aging and death. If there were no wars, things still would be tough, less challenging for many, but life would still be difficult; and the essential flaw of disease, accident and death would remain.
As we eliminate suffering, as we desire something better—the underlying reality of a perfect Creation is allowed to emerge of its own volition. The more suffering that we eliminate by our own free will—the more the perfect and benevolent qualities of Creation are allowed to emerge. We do not have to create the perfectionof ourselves or the world we live in; it’s already there as the reality behind our harsh and difficult world.
Eventually, as we and humanity have reached a critical mass of change for the better, of positive thought, emotions and actions… there becomes a self-propelled push or chain reaction of positive events that can change things quickly. But we get to this place by incremental and often imperceptible change brought about by our group behavior of love, compassion and positive action.
